Dr. Peter Köhler (born in 1958) has a doctorate in physics and began his working career with Flachglas AG, which later became Pilkington. There he held various management positions in the automotive, rail vehicles and quality management areas.
In 1996 Dr. Köhler joined the Weidmüller Group as Managing Director of the tools / measuring equipment division. He became Member of the Board of the Weidmüller Group in 1999. Here he was responsible for the business areas of development, product and industry management as well as the Asian region.
In 2002 Dr. Köhler was appointed Managing Director of W. C. Heraeus GmbH in Hanau. With product sales of around € 2.9bn as well as precious metal trading revenues of around € 17.9bn and 5,500 employees (2010) he was responsible for the largest division of the family-owned, international precious metal and technology group Heraeus (total sales: €4.1bn in 2010).
Dr. Köhler is Board Member of the German Electrical and Electronics Manufacurers’ Association (ZVEI) and member of numerous further national and international committees and associations.
Since 2011 Dr. Köhler is CEO of the Weidmüller Group. He is responsible for the Corporate Strategy, Technology, Innovation and Product Management, Human Resources and Corporate Communications as well as Production, Quality Management and Compliance.
